There are not many other major baseball teams in the league today that are as beloved as the New York Yankees. This rich-in-history team was founded in 1901. Beginning as the Baltimore Orioles when the American League came into play, the team packed its bags and moved to New York. Once there in 1903, the team name was changed to the Highlanders. In 1913, the team changed its name one final time to the Yankees.
With the name change out of the way, it was time to design some uniforms and logos to give the New York Yankees their "look."
The legendary, all-American look of the original New York Yankees logo featured a baseball, covered in the word "Yankees" written right across the front in red. Sometime in the 1980's, there were slight modifications made to the design and color of the logo, but it has remained much the same since then.
